Dr. Ramaswami Balasubramaniam (Dr. Balu) is a distinguished development scholar, author, public policy advocate, and leadership trainer. Known for his pioneering development work with rural and tribal communities in Karnataka, India, he founded the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) at the age of 19. With over 26 years of experience in development work, he pursued advanced degrees in leadership, organizational development, and public policy. He has served as the Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor at Cornell University and holds various academic positions globally. His previous works, Voices from the Grassroots and I, the Citizen, have received global acclaim.
