Gurugram (Harayana) [India] September 18: The 5th season of the Global India Couture Week (GICW) 2024 concluded with a spectacular showcase, with designers Allie Sharma and Shravan Kumar stealing the spotlight at the prestigious event held at The Bristol, in association with IFDC.

Allie Mangalam Sambandh collection, a tribute to South Indian wedding traditions, captivated the audience with its blend of traditional bridal and groom attire infused with modern flair. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of South Indian weddings, the collection featured a stunning array of designs that honored age-old customs while embracing contemporary luxury.

The collection showcased a balance between heritage and innovation, with elements like modern silhouettes, creative draping techniques, and striking color combinations. Luxurious fabrics, including silk, brocade, and handwoven textiles, added sophistication to each piece, ensuring the collection resonated with both tradition and the demands of the modern bride and groom.

Shravan Kumar, known for his passion for preserving Indian heritage, offered a powerful reminder of the deep cultural significance of textiles. “Saris are not just from our country; they are our country and heritage,” he remarked, highlighting his commitment to the weavers and traditional weaving techniques that are slowly disappearing as younger generations show less interest in continuing the craft. His designs, imbued with rich cultural storytelling, added a dramatic yet heartfelt narrative to the show.

The two designers left an indelible mark on the audience, celebrating both the grandeur of Indian weddings and the irreplaceable legacy of India’s textile heritage.
