New Delhi [India], September 2: Some journeys are written not in textbooks but in the frames of a camera. For Gajendra Kumavat, an electrical engineer by degree and a photographer by destiny, life has been about finding meaning in moments and preserving them forever.
A national-level table tennis player during his engineering days, Gajendra had opportunities many dream of – a government placement and a stable career path. But being a Marwari at heart, he knew he wasn’t made for a job. His real calling lay elsewhere, hidden in the lens of his film camera and his love for capturing stories.
In 2015, while studying at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), one of India’s finest colleges for startups, life presented Gajendra with a defining moment when he lost his father. Instead of letting it break him, he chose to turn that life-changing experience into strength, finding clarity in his passion and courage to pursue it as a career. His very first project with the Indian Army for their Golden Jubilee set the stage, and from there, opportunities began flowing in.
With time, he founded Gaj-Aakriti, a name that beautifully combines his own identity with his art. Aakriti means “image,” symbolizing the essence of photography. More than just a brand, Gaj-Aakriti represents a premium, high-end wedding shoot experience, dedicated to capturing timeless moments with elegance and artistry. Blending luxury aesthetics with cinematic storytelling, the team creates wedding films and photographs that reflect grandeur, emotion, and individuality. Every frame is crafted not just to preserve memories, but to immortalize legacies.
To further expand his vision, Gajendra introduced specialized verticals under Gaj-Aakriti. Intimate Stories by Gaj-Aakriti focuses on small-scale weddings and private celebrations, where every detail is captured with the same cinematic artistry but in a more personal, close-knit way. On the other hand, EraOne Productions was launched to cater to commercial projects, from ad films to large-scale brand campaigns, bringing the same creative depth and cinematic finesse to the world of advertising and media.
From his very first wedding assignment for a close friend to becoming part of some of India’s most iconic and celebrated weddings, his journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. What makes Gajendra’s work unique is not just his lens but his perspective. Having lost the bond with his own father, Gajendra now discovers that connection anew with every father of a bride or groom, building meaningful relationships that naturally reflect in his work. His camera doesn’t just capture rituals; it captures emotions, unspoken relationships, and timeless stories.
Today, with three creative camps across India and recognition from platforms like Wedding Sutra, Gajendra has become a storyteller of legacies. His lens goes beyond grand venues and lavish décor; it captures the essence of human connections. Every frame he creates is a blend of art and emotion, tradition and modernity, silence and celebration. Inspired by people across the globe yet deeply rooted in his own experiences, Gajendra doesn’t just document weddings, he immortalizes them, transforming fleeting moments into timeless narratives that families cherish for generations.
